Argentina's Hosts Gay & Lesbian World Cup
Argentina is increasingly referred to as the gay capital of Latin America, building on momentum from the 2002 ruling to recognize gay marriage (the first country in Latin America to do so). This week proud Argentines are joined by gay and lesbian athletes from around the world at the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association World Soccer Championships being held in Buenos Aires at the Sarmiento Park. The tournament, backed by FIFA, has been around since 1991. Next year it is scheduled to be held in London.
