Congratulations to Calabogie Motorsports
I wanted to pass along a big congrats to my brother and his team at Calabogie Motorsports. After 3 very long years of waiting, they just received their zoning approvals for what will undoubtedly be the most exciting thing to hit Ottawa since the Senators!
The Calabogie Track, designed by world renowned race track designer Alan Wilson, is intended for amateur and club level driving enthusiasts. Its is primarily for club level events, but has also been designed for race events (from an operational and safety perspective). The track layout is in the form of two stand-alone tracks, together with link sections that enable a single full course to be operated when desired.
If you've never driven a car on a racetrack before... I highly recommend it. What a rush! The idea of taking a corner at high speeds, without letting your instinct to slam on the breaks take over, is truly a challenge. It's a perfect activity for a corporate event day or club gathering of any kind.
To give you an idea of how special this track is: I have been hounding my brother for ages to send me some photos. He now has two incredible step/something-children and since we seldomly get to see them, photos are always appreciated. Last week, for the first time in months, I received an ophoto email from him. I excitedly opened it up hoping to find some evidence of their summer holidays. Instead? 115 photos of an unpaved racetrack... every corner, every landmark, every significant tree. OK, I'll admit, I was a bit let down.
The track is expected to be open in mid-September of this year. If you are interested in booking it for an event you can contact them by clicking here. Calabogie is about an hour outside of Ottawa. If you've never been to Ottawa, I highly recommend it... in the summer. Who knows, maybe some day we'll have an On The Road Travel track day!
